You don’t need a new plan. You need a new vision of who you are when the plan falls apart.
That’s how I want to close out August’s theme: Vision Over Plans. Because the truth is, plans are often neat little blueprints that feel safe. They look good on paper. They feel good to present. They check the boxes. But when life punches back—and it always does—those plans often crumble. And if all you had was a plan with no vision? You’re left scrambling. Grasping. Maybe even quitting.
Vision is different.
Vision doesn’t crumble. Vision might bend, shift, evolve—but it doesn’t disappear. That’s because vision lives in your imagination, not in your Google Calendar. Vision lives in your gut, your soul, your faith. And when that vision is alive, it will get louder and louder until you make space for it.
So, let’s talk about what happens when the numbers drown out the vision—and what to do about it.
The Truth: Vision ≠ Plan (and Why That Matters More Than Ever)
A plan is a tool. A vision is a calling.
A plan outlines tasks. Vision creates movement.
One can exist without you ever growing. The other requires you to grow.
The moment I understood that, everything shifted. Misfits Magazine? Didn’t start with a plan. It started with a restless vision that kept me up at night. This coaching business, this summit? Same thing. There was no 40-page strategy deck. Just purpose, clarity, and alignment. I could see it. I could feel it. So I had to act.
You don’t need to map every step. You need to see yourself clearly.
When the Money Talks Too Loud: How Fear Shrinks Vision
Let’s get real
For so many of us—especially Black women—money has been both motivator and muzzle.
We over-function in our finances. We work multiple jobs. We side hustle with no margin. I dive deeper into this dynamic in The Hidden Cost of Overfunctioning, where doing the most quietly erodes our well-being We burn ourselves out chasing every income stream, yet still feel behind. And somewhere along the way, our creativity, our joy, our vision gets buried under budgets and bills.
But here’s the truth: Money is not the villain. The fear that we won’t have enough? That’s the thief.
Fear convinces us to shrink the vision to fit what’s affordable. To silence the dream because the numbers don’t line up. That’s not stewardship. That’s survival.
And you were born for more than that.
Nothing But Numbers: Reclaiming Power in the Financial Story
So when I titled the summit Nothing But Numbers, it wasn’t a dismissal. It was a declaration.
We’re not ignoring the numbers. We’re taking the power back. We’re stripping away the shame, the confusion, the myths. We’re saying: my vision is bigger than this debt, this score, this paycheck, this tax bracket.
Because when you understand the truth about credit, debt, and wealth—you stop letting the numbers define you.
And let me be clear: this summit is not just about money. It’s about freedom. Mental, financial, and emotional. It’s about clarity and choice.

How to Lead with Vision (Even When Life Feels Messy)
So how do you start leading with vision again?
1. Center the Vision Daily
Start your mornings not with your to-do list, but your “why”. Journal. Visualize. Speak it aloud.
2. Detox Your Metrics
Stop obsessing over likes, views, or even revenue. Measure alignment. Measure peace.
3. Reframe the Financial Story
Money is a tool. Your worth is not up for debate. Learn the system, use the system, don’t let it use you.
4. Anchor in Purpose, Not Pressure
Plans will come and go. Vision? That’s your anchor. That’s the legacy.
Vision Is a Form of Liberation
When we center vision, we reclaim agency. We stop reacting and start creating. We stop surviving and start building.
So if you’re sitting here right now thinking you’re behind—pause. You’re not behind. You’re being invited back into alignment.
Your dreams are not too big. Your life is not too messy. The money story is not the whole story.
Let your vision breathe again.
When I talk about reclaiming your vision, I’m not speaking in metaphors. I’m talking about real freedom — from survival mode, from the noise of other people’s expectations, and from the lie that your worth is tied to a plan. That’s what we explore in Nothing But Numbers. We break down what’s behind the fear — the scores, the debt, the pressure — and rebuild from the inside out. This summit isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing different. And if you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to take action, I want you to know: clarity is a choice you can make today.
If you’re just starting to reconnect with your vision—or if you’re ready to listen deeper—I shared what helped me find my footing in this blog on clarity and calling. It’s a reminder that your next step doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be true.

🏛 My 2 Cents
The world will always demand a plan. But the ones who truly change things? They’re the ones who dare to follow their vision. Even when it doesn’t come with a GPS.
Let’s walk in vision, not fear.
Let’s make room for more than just the numbers.
