They Flagged My Book Ad — So I’m Sharing It Myself

When telling the truth becomes a violation, you tell it louder.

Sometimes telling the truth gets you labeled as “sensitive.”
Or “restricted.”
Or “flagged.”

Yesterday, the ad for my new book — a book — was rejected.

Not because it was misleading. Not because it made financial promises. And not because it violated any community guidelines.

No.
It was rejected because I told the truth about the stories we inherited — especially in Black communities — and how those stories shaped our relationship with money long before any credit score ever existed.

I didn’t talk about credit repair.
I didn’t offer financial services.
I didn’t make a single claim.

I talked about identity.
I talked about history.
I talked about us.

And somehow… that was too much.

And if telling the truth about us is “too much,” then maybe the problem isn’t the truth — maybe it’s the system that’s uncomfortable with it.

So here’s what I decided — Audacity fully engaged:

If the system won’t let the ad run, I’ll run it myself.

Because our stories have been silenced long enough.
Because telling the truth shouldn’t be considered dangerous.
And because no algorithm gets to decide which narratives matter.

My upcoming book, It Was Never Just About the Numbers, is not about formulas or finances.
It’s about the myths we inherited, the pressures we lived under, and the clarity we were never given.
